The first dig session is about to begin. As posts announcing the arrival of people I don't even know begin to pop up on the Dig Mount Zion Facebook page my eager anticipation grows exponentially. My heart knows a monumental growth experience awaits.
I can't wait to meet individuals face-to-face that, up until my arrival on 30 June, will have only been represented by writings on a Facebook page. I can't wait to tour Jerusalem and other venues with our group and soak in the knowledge presented by our leaders, Dr. Gibson and Dr. Tabor. Most of all, I can't wait to participate in the work of the excavation. What discoveries will be made during my period of participation? What will the dig, as a whole, unearth in 2017. Only time will tell. If I find nothing at all it will be enough to know I am immersed in ancient dirt.
